Our Origins

Femini Magazine is an independent publication that was founded by Lydia Ibrahim, a student from Essex. At that time, Lydia was eighteen and wanted to see more media outlets which shed light on the struggles and successes which women face around the world, as opposed to magazines which relied so heavily on beauty standards and how women should look.

Femini Magazine prides itself on being entirely independent and as a team of four young women including Ilma Amin, Hannah Crosbie, Elspeth Taylor and Lydia Ibrahim, the four young women collect together the life-stories and experiences of others in these jam-packed issues.

Today, Femini has four released issues, has been featured in outlets such as Hunger Magazine and is now hosting Femini Festival '18, an event which hopes to connect people with the struggles of women all over the world.
